Couple life is an exciting adventure, but it can also be complex when each partner pursues their own ambitions and professional goals. I’ve experienced this firsthand for several years now, and I understand the challenges it brings.
Achieving a fulfilling career while maintaining a thriving relationship may seem difficult, but with effective management and open communication, it’s possible to create a harmonious balance. Here’s my perspective on the matter.
I. Couple Availability
To preserve a thriving relationship despite individual ambitions, maintaining mutual availability is essential. This means dedicating time and attention to your partner, even during busy times.
Schedule quality moments together, such as romantic dinners, hikes, runs or movie nights, to strengthen emotional connections. It’s crucial, as it’s easy to forget about nurturing your relationship amidst daily life. I know it sounds repetitive, but it’s important to emphasize!
Beyond romantic love, a relationship should be grounded in strong friendship and teamwork. Cultivate trust, support, and camaraderie with your partner. Share your ambitions and encourage each other to achieve your goals. A solid friendship helps manage the challenges and compromises inherent in pursuing individual aspirations. Don’t hesitate to seek your partner’s opinion when making decisions; their insights can be incredibly helpful.
II. Small Acts and Intentions
As my mother always said, small daily gestures are essential for keeping the flame of love and commitment alive in a relationship. Take the time to express your love and appreciation for your partner through gestures, sweet words, or surprises.
Show genuine interest and actively encourage each other. These small acts are vital for the greater intentions of your relationship!
III. Preserving Time for Yourself and Your Relationship
When life gets busy, it’s important to carve out time for friends, hobbies, and individual passions. Schedule specific moments to enjoy your favourite activities, whether they are individual or shared, and to socialize with friends.
Aim to plan at least one couple moment each week, it’s possible! It’s ultra-important! Even a romantic weekend every three months can make a huge difference.
IV. Presence at Home
When you’re at home, strive for genuine presence and emotional availability toward your partner. Avoid distractions like social media and mobile phones. Practice active listening, share household tasks, and create moments of intimacy to maintain a balanced relationship.
After a long workday, I often take a shower and change into relaxed clothes to transition from work mode to husband and father energy. This helps immensely!
I put my phone in a drawer and don’t use it until the kids are in bed—even putting it on airplane mode! You’ll notice a significant improvement in the quality of your moments together.
Managing individual ambitions within a relationship takes time, effort, and open communication. By prioritizing mutual availability, friendship, small gestures, personal time, and presence at home, it is absolutely possible to maintain a healthy balance between pursuing individual ambitions and nurturing a fulfilling relationship.
Remember, the key lies in constant communication, mutual respect, and reciprocal support. Share, connect, and give each other your full attention!
Ps : My wife is the best thing that happened to me in life. MERCI and I love YOU!

I've spent over a decade in Asia, initially as a professional football player in France and Hong Kong. In early 2020, I faced personal and work-related challenges, including fertility issues and work-related stress, prompting me to reassess my priorities.

I decided to refocus on what truly mattered to me, quitting football, achieving athletic milestones, and studying psychology. This transformative period led me to become a coach, emphasizing simplicity, sharing, sports, and confidence in my approach. I firmly believe in an individual's potential to achieve their goals with the right mindset and aim to inspire and guide leaders and teams towards success.
